An ode to a wonderful grandmother

My grandmother basically grew me up. Mum dropped me of every morning and fetched me after work from the time I was 6 months old until I was 10 years old and we moved to a different area. My relationship with my gran however still continued. We visited every weekend and she usually had a gift for me everytime I visited her. All my cousins knew that I was the favorite and my grandmother often mentioned it ???. She bought me my very first cell phone. Now bear in mind she never worked and she only had a primary school education yet she ensured that I had everything of the best.

10 years ago my gran had a stroke and lost the use of the right side of her body. It was during this time that she moved in with us. Our whole lives had to change to accommodate her and honestly I would not have it any other way because she filled our home with light and love and brought joy to our lives.

Today she took her very last breath in this world but she is the reason we took our first. Alayna is her first great grand daughter. They shared such a special bond. In fact she is the reason my daughter is so fluent, it’s because my grandmother spent her days with my little girl. She picked up some crazy habits too which will forever remind me of my grandmother. She loves putting tissue and money in her ‘bra’ ??? which is something my gran taught her. She also loves bags and filling them with things and anyone that knows my gran, would know that she kept everything in bags. She really wanted to meet her great grandson M. Zayyan who was born 4 weeks ago but he was in hospital then when he came home, she went in. He did however get to meet her today at her funeral.

She will forever be missed and continue to live on in our hearts forever.

Lotsa luv
